Born at Ingazeiras (Ceará), Aldemir Martins (1922-2006) brought a daring landscape to an unique talent. Owner of strong traces and vibrating shades, his job was marked by intense vitality, feature which makes the work unmistakable and relevant to a nation who recognizes itself in his paintings and sketches.

Self-educated artist, his accurate technique comprised in different bases – the painting, pictures, sketches, ceramic and sculpture, during a journey which never refused innovation. The artist worked with different kinds of surface, from little woods to cigar boxes, writing papers and pizza packages, nevertheless without losing the strong record which recognizes his job at the first glance.

The closeness of the artist to people made him find no limits for his job, where he passed between refined and secular centers. It’s a fair representation of a genius in his own society expression.
